Barrett-Jackson To Offer Wide Range Of Rare And Collectible Automobiles At 11th Annual Palm Beach Auction April 4-6, 2013

PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 12, 2013) – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™, is excited to announce the return of its renowned Palm Beach auction, taking place at the South Florida Fairgrounds, April 4-6, 2013.

Thousands of spectators and collectors from around the world are expected to participate in the world-class automotive lifestyle event and witness hundreds of classics, exotics, muscle cars, Hot Rods, Resto-Mods and contemporary collectibles, as they cross the auction block at No Reserve.

SPEED will broadcast more than 20 hours of live, high-definition TV coverage of the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction Thursday through Saturday, April 4 – 6. Broadcast hours are as follows:

  • Thursday, April 4: 2pm-8pm EST
  • Friday, April 5: 2pm-8pm EST
  • Saturday, April 6: 11am-1pm EST, 4pm-8:30pm EST

“Our Palm Beach auction is set to be pretty exciting and we’re certainly expecting to draw an enthusiastic crowd,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We’re so proud to be able to offer some of the world’s finest collector cars and fun family lifestyle events for all of our enthusiasts and spectators to enjoy.”

The Opening Night Gala will take place on Wednesday, April 3rd  and the fun-filled evening will begin at 7pm. Throughout the night, guests will be able to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live music while gearing up to view the highly coveted horsepower. Tickets are $85 each or $170 for a pair, additional fees may apply.

Original 1966 Batmobile Sets World Record For TV/Movie Cars At The 42nd Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale

“Kustom Kar” Legend George Barris Parts with His Most Famous Creation After 47 Years

 

Scottsdale, Ariz. – (January 29, 2013) – The Original 1966 TV series Batmobile, one of the most recognized and popular pieces of entertainment history worldwide, sold for $4,620,000 and set the world record for the highest price ever fetched for a TV/Movie car, at the 42nd annual Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. The unique vehicle was offered as part of Barrett-Jackson’s spectacular Salon Collection on January 19, 2013.

Barrett-Jackson decided to announce the news only after verifying the records. The previous record was held by the Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery in “Goldfinger,” which sold for $4,608,500 in 2010, meaning that the Batmobile sold for $11,500 more. In fact, Barrett-Jackson is currently working with the Guinness Book of World Records to add the sale to their list.

“The 1966 Batmobile is a true piece of Americana and fans around the world were curious to see what it would sell for,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We are so proud of the record it set, but more importantly, we couldn’t be happier to help find a new home for such a significant and legendary piece of TV and movie history in front of a record crowd for a Saturday auction and the SPEED TV audience.”

Barrett-Jackson Generates Nearly $109 Million In Sales And Sets Record Attendance At The 42nd Annual Scottsdale Auction

Batmobile sells for $4.62 million dollars to a lifelong fan to worldwide audience;
marks second-highest single-car sale at Barrett-Jackson

  • $108,766,069 gross sales – A 17% increase over 2012

 Scottsdale, Ariz. – Jan. 22, 2013Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, generated nearly $109 Million in gross sales of rare, high-end collectible vehicles, exotics, customs, classics, hot rods and resto-mods during its 42nd  annual Arizona auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Jan 13-20, 2013. This sale was on par with the 2007 Barrett-Jackson auction that also generated nearly $109 Million in gross sales.

The 2013 Scottsdale auction also set two world records with the largest number of No Reserve vehicles offered at one auction, as well as the largest-ever Barrett-Jackson auction measured by the number of cars sold. In addition to the two auction records, Barrett-Jackson set two world records for individual vehicle sales. (Lot #5034) a 1956 Chrysler Diablo Concept Convertible sold for a record $1.375 Million and (Lot #5019) a 1947 Talbot-Lago T-26 Grand Sport sold for a record $2.035 Million. Both were among the superb Salon Collection, Barrett-Jackson’s premium selection of blue chip collectible vehicles.

Scottsdale, Ariz. (Jan. 20, 2013)Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, announced today that its highly anticipated 5000 series, which featured more than 50 unique and rare automobiles, including the company’s famed Salon Collection, generated more than $29.2 million at the company’s iconic Scottsdale auction on January 19, 2013. The top seller within the group was the Original 1966 TV Batmobile (LOT #5037), which dazzled both collectors and fans as it crossed the stage, selling for $4.62 Million.

The original Batmobile started its life as the one and only 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car, which was heavily modified by Barris to become the original 1966 Batmobile in the live action TV series Batman, as well as the movie adaptation, starring Adam West. The auction tent was brimming with excitement as fans watched the price for the Batmobile skyrocket to historic proportions on the Barrett-Jackson auction block. Legendary customizer and creator George Barris looked on with pride from the auctioneer’s stand, even adding his signature jacket to the sale, as the crowd cheered the auctioneer on.
